Guildford Greenbelt group (GGG) welcomes confirmation of Green Belt protection in Hertfordshire
After a previous call-in decision was quashed in court, the secretary of state has accepted an inspector's advice that two developments in Hertfordshire should be rejected due to their adverse impact on the green belt and the area's character.
The larger scheme comprised 116 dwellings, a 72-bedroom care home, two tennis courts and open space on a 5ha site. A smaller part of the site was promoted as an alternative involving 85 homes and two tennis courts. The inspector’s decision on the first scheme (DCS Number 200-000-133) had been successfully challenged in the High Court and the Court of Appeal.
